Google has opened up AI Mode in Search to users who speak Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish, the first language expansion for the feature, which previously only worked in English.

AI Mode is a chatbot integrated into Google Search that uses the Gemini 2.5 Pro model and Deep Search. Google opened the feature to all users in the US in May, followed by the UK and India. The feature later went live in 180 countries around the world.

According to Gema Budaraju, VP of Search Product Management, creating global search is not just about translation, but about deep understanding of local context. Thanks to Gemini 2.5’s multimodal and logical capabilities, the company was able to adapt AI Mode to new languages while taking into account local specifics.

As a reminder, Google recently updated the Gemini help page and for the first time clearly indicated the limitations for different plans.
