Framework pulls its cheapest laptops from sale in the US due to Trump tariffs

- 8 April, 10:00 AM

Modular laptop and PC maker Framework said it is "temporarily suspending" sales of some of its models in the U.S. due to the Trump administration's tariffs. Several base versions of the Framework Laptop 13 with Ultra 5 125H and Ryzen 5 7640U processors have disappeared from sale.

"We priced our laptops when tariffs on imports from Taiwan were 0%," Framework writes. "At a 10% tariff, we would have to sell the lowest-end SKUs at a loss. Other consumer goods makers have performed the same calculations and taken the same actions, though most have not been open about it."

Trump's tariffs have already had a significant impact on other companies' products. For example, Nintendo has postponed pre-orders for the Switch 2 in the United States. Car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has also stopped shipments to the United States.
