Elon Musk has become the first person in the world to surpass the $500 billion mark. The world's richest person is $150 billion ahead of Larry Ellison, who is in second place, and is halfway to becoming the world's first trillionaire, Forbes reports.

Musk has achieved this result largely thanks to Tesla shares, which recently rose 4%. This added $9.3 billion to Musk’s fortune. In total, the value of the electric car maker’s shares has almost doubled since Musk announced in April that he was leaving his role at DOGE to spend more time at the company. The Tesla CEO’s stake now adds $191 billion to his fortune.

Another source of Musk's wealth is SpaceX, which is valued at $400 billion. His share is about 42%, or about $168 billion. In addition, xAI Holdings, which includes the artificial intelligence startup xAI and the social network X (formerly Twitter), adds about $60 billion to his fortune.

Musk has grown his net worth to $500 billion in just five years. As of March 2020, his fortune was just $24.6 billion, and this rapid growth was facilitated by Tesla shares, thanks to which he became the first person in the world to exceed $100 billion in August of that year. Musk won the title of the richest person in the world in January 2021 with a net worth of $190 billion, in November 2021 - $300 billion, in December 2024 - $400 billion, and finally half a trillion.

Forbes predicts that if things continue as they are, Elon Musk could become the world's first trillionaire by 2033 thanks to Tesla's bonus payments, which together could reach $1 trillion.
