Chinese company DeepSeek has disclosed some data on costs and revenues associated with its popular V3 and R1 models. The company claims that the theoretical cost-to-revenue ratio is up to 545% per day, but the actual revenue is lower, Reuters reports.

DeepSeek notes that assuming a single NVIDIA H800 chip costs $2 per hour to rent, a day of operation for the V3 and R1 models would be $87,072. In contrast, the theoretical daily revenue generated by these models is $562,027, a 545% increase. Over a year, this would amount to over $200 million in revenue.

However, the company immediately added that its "actual revenue is significantly lower" because the cost of the V3 model is lower than the R1 and not all features are monetized, as access to the Internet and applications remains free.

The discovery could further shake up AI stocks outside of China. When Deepseek’s R1 debuted in January, it was as powerful as OpenAI’s latest models and 90-95% cheaper.
