Chinese battery manufacturer CATL has unveiled its new Shenxing Pro lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery platform aimed at the European electric vehicle market. The platform includes two variants, both of which have impressive specs on paper, Techspot reports.
The first option, the Shenxing Pro Super Long Life & Long Range Battery, provides up to 758 km of range on a single charge according to the WLTP standard. The battery life is up to 12 years or 1,000,000 km, with only about 9% degradation expected after the first 200,000 km.
The second option, the Shenxing Pro Super-Fast Charging Battery, focuses on fast charging. According to CATL, 10 minutes of charging provides up to 478 km of range. The battery can produce 830 kW of power and accelerate the car to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds even at a 20% charge. The company adds that even at low temperatures, such as -20°C, the efficiency of the batteries remains high: after a 20-minute charge, you can expect a range of 410 km. Both versions will have a warranty of 10 years or 240,000 km.
Shenxing Pro batteries feature a Wave cell design that utilizes volume more efficiently than traditional cell-to-body. They feature multi-directional vibration damping, are 25% stronger, and are cooled from any side.
By the way, CATL is actively investing in the European market. The company has already spent over €11 billion.
