Beeper, the universal chat app that lets you collect messages from different messengers in one place, has received an update to improve security, as well as a monthly subscription plan for $9.99 that will unlock additional features.

The Beeper app on any user's device would first connect to the Beeper Cloud, which would then connect to the messaging network. However, with this update, this intermediate cloud connection step can be disabled to connect directly to the service.

"This means a little extra setup effort for new devices, but it also means that you get end-to-end encryption for all networks that support them," the company said in a statement.

As Beeper CEO Kishan Bhagaria told TechCrunch in a comment, users will be able to decide for themselves whether to disable Beeper Cloud or continue using the service as usual.

Bagaria also shared details of the interaction with the developers of the messengers. According to him, good relations were established with many companies, although some did not respond to requests at all. He added that Beeper will adhere to the business models of these services - for example, if Telegram shows advertising, it will also appear in Beeper.

The second new feature is the monthly Beeper Plus subscription plan, which costs $9.99. This subscription will allow users to add up to three accounts per messaging network and up to 10 accounts in total (5 in the free version), send scheduled messages, set reminders, view messages in incognito mode, as well as have voice message transcription and special app icons.

For the most active users who connect a large number of accounts and services, Beeper offers the Plus Plus plan for $49.99 per month — it allows you to add an unlimited number of profiles.

As a reminder, Beeper is a universal application that allows you to collect chats from various messengers, namely WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, SMS/RCS, Google Chat, Messenger, Signal, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), Discord, Slack and iMessage (Mac only), in one place. In April 2024, the application was acquired by Automattic, which also owns WordPress.
