Audio-Technica Japan has unveiled a limited edition ATH-AWSW DV headphone model inspired by Star Wars and adorned with artwork of Darth Vader. The headphones are handcrafted and will be available exclusively at the company's booth during Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, taking place on April 18.
A total of ten pairs of these headphones will be produced, and their cost will be 990 thousand yen (~$6,700).
The outer wooden panel of the headphones is covered in polished Echizen lacquer and decorated with images of Darth Vader, executed in the traditional Japanese lacquer decoration technique of maki-e.
The headphones weigh 415 grams (excluding cable) and come in a special wooden box. The set also includes a Star Wars-style stand. In addition, users will receive two cables: one 3 meters long with a gold-plated 6.3 mm stereo plug and another 1.2 meters long with a gold-plated 3.5 mm mini-plug.
In terms of specifications, the Audio-Technica ATH-AWSW DV headphones feature 53mm drivers with a specially tuned acoustic design and support for Hi-Res Audio. They provide an extended frequency range from 5 Hz to 45,000 Hz. The model is rated for up to 2000 mW of power at 48 ohms and has a sensitivity of 102 dB/mW.
As a reminder, these aren't the only Star Wars-themed headphones Audio-Technica has to offer. The company previously introduced a limited edition of the ATH-CKS50TW2 wireless headphones.
