Atlassian is acquiring The Browser Company, the developer of the Arc and Dia browsers. The deal is valued at $610 million. It is scheduled to close in the first quarter of 2026.
"By combining The Browser Company’s passion for building browsers people love with Atlassian’s deep expertise on how the world’s best teams operate, we have the opportunity to transform how work gets done in the AI era," said Mike Cannon-Brooks, CEO and co-founder of Atlassian.
Brooks notes that modern browsers weren't designed for work, but for browsing news, videos, recipes, and other content. As a result, users often open dozens or even hundreds of tabs during the workday. He believes that The Browsing Company 's Dia browser could solve this problem.
In a post on X, The Browser Company says that Dia will be a priority for the company, which will operate independently of Atlassian. In a separate blog post on the site, the company also notes that Arc and Arc Search will continue to exist and that plans for their future will be announced in the near future.
Recall that the Dia browser, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence capabilities, was released in beta in June 2025. A little later, in early August, The Browser Company also introduced a subscription for $20 per month, which opens access to additional features.
It was also previously reported that due to the change in focus to Dia and low popularity, The Browser Company was considering selling its previous browser, Arc, or making its code open source.
