Ubisoft has released the Claws of Awaji expansion for Assassin's Creed Shadows. It's available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC and macOS via the Epic Games Store, Steam, and Ubisoft Store. Those who pre-ordered the game will receive it for free, while others will have to pay $25 or have a Ubisoft+ subscription.
Claws of Awaji, developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, adds around 10 hours of gameplay content, a new region, and a series of quests that continue the story of Naoe and Yasuke. The DLC takes place after the end of the main game, so it cannot be completed without completing the story campaign.
The expansion begins with Naoe traveling to Awaji on the trail of a mysterious ninja. There, together with Yasuke, she will face the dangerous Sanzoku Ippa, a ruthless faction that threatens the peace of the island. During a new journey through the mysterious island of Awaji, players will discover bustling cities and stunning seascapes, but they will have to be vigilant, as ambushes and traps will quickly make it clear that they are not very welcome on Awaji.
Since Assassin's Creed Shadows' release on March 20, Ubisoft has released a number of updates. They've added a New Game+ mode, Nightmare difficulty, and useful features like time rewind and automatic fog clearing after all sync points in a region are discovered.
Recall that Assassin's Creed Shadows, which received a 9 out of 10 in the review from Mezha, became the most successful release of the game in the series on Steam, and the second most successful release after Assassin's Creed Valhalla. In a little more than a week, the game gathered three million players, and in the summer it was reported that Shadows was the most successful game of 2025 in Europe.
