Apple has introduced a new generation of smartwatches — Apple Watch Series 11. They have longer battery life, hypertension detection, and for the first time, 5G connectivity on models with cellular connectivity.
The new smartwatches are the thinnest Apple watches ever. Series 11 now features an improved front glass that’s twice as scratch-resistant and a new Space Gray aluminum finish. The watch cases are made from 100% recycled titanium and aluminum.
One of the notable improvements in the Apple Watch Series 11 is its longer battery life. The company says the new watches can last up to 24 hours on a single charge, up from 18 hours on the previous generation. In addition, the new models support fast charging.
Like the new AirPods Pro 3, the Apple Watch Series 11 has a real-time translation feature, as well as a hypertension detection feature. The watch will notify you if it detects signs of high blood pressure. While the company warns that it won't be able to detect all cases, it expects more than a million people to receive such notifications in the first year. The company is currently awaiting approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other regulators.
Another new feature in Series 11 is Sleep Score, which will provide detailed analytics on sleep quality. The score will be determined by sleep duration, the sequence of when users go to bed, the frequency of awakenings, and the time spent in each sleep stage.
Like previous generations, the Apple Watch Series 11 will be available in two sizes — 42 and 46 millimeters — and in Wi-Fi-only or cellular versions, which are first offered by 5G. The aluminum versions come in Jet Black, Silver, Rose Gold, and Space Gray, while the titanium versions come in Natural, Gold, and Slate. They will start at $399 and will go on sale on September 19.
