Apple has filed a lawsuit against famous YouTuber Jon Prosser (YouTube channel fpt.) and Michael Ramacciotti, accusing them of illegally accessing confidential information regarding the upcoming iOS 26 update. According to the company, the leak was possible due to a violation of security policies by Apple employee Ethan Lipnick. MacRumors writes about this.
Apple's lawsuit states that Ramacciotti gained access to Lipnik's work iPhone, learned his password, and, waiting for the owner to be absent, showed the iOS 26 interface during a FaceTime call with Prosser. Prosser, in turn, recorded the video and based it on the renderings for several of his videos, published before the official announcement of the system at WWDC.
Apple claims that there was much more confidential information on the phone that has not yet become public. The company does not know how deeply the data was compromised. Lipnik has already been released, and Apple is seeking an injunction against further dissemination of the information and compensation for damages.
In a comment to the news, Jon Prosser disputed the account of events in Apple's lawsuit and said he is "looking forward to being able to speak to Apple about it."
