Apple plans to integrate an intelligent power management system into iOS 19, which will optimize the iPhone's performance according to the user's habits, Bloomberg reports.
Thanks to artificial intelligence algorithms, the system will analyze battery usage data and reduce energy consumption by individual applications or functions at the right times.
Google already uses a similar approach in Android with the Adaptive Battery feature, which since 2018 has used machine learning to determine which apps to limit in the background and which to prioritize.
The new version of iOS will also feature an indicator on the lock screen that will show the estimated time until the device is fully charged.
As Bloomberg notes, this feature is primarily being developed for the upcoming iPhone 17 Air , which could become the company's thinnest smartphone - and therefore have a smaller battery. However, the AI function will be available on all iPhones with iOS 19 , not just on new devices.
iOS 19 also promises a general design refresh and public Wi-Fi synchronization between devices. The system is expected to be unveiled at WWDC 2025 in June, with a release expected in the fall.
As a reminder, Apple recently released a new update, iOS 18. The system can now be downloaded by all compatible iPhone models.
