As part of Apple's $100 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing, the Cupertino company also announced a partnership with Samsung to produce chips at a factory in Austin, Texas, 9to5Mac reports.

According to the statement, Apple will work with Samsung at the Texas plant to bring to the US "innovative new chip manufacturing technologies that have never been used anywhere else in the world before."

The company is not going into details about these technologies at this time, but notes that the chips will "optimize the power and performance of Apple products, including iPhone, around the world."

While details are scarce at the moment, it has been previously reported that Samsung will supply new camera sensors for future iPhones, and it is likely that their production will be set up at the Austin plant.

In addition to working with Samsung, other Apple partners will also deploy production in the US under the American Manufacturing Program (AMP): Corning, Coherent, GlobalWafers America, Applied Materials, Texas Instruments, GlobalFoundries, Amkor, and Broadcom.
