Apple is set to release a new iPhone 17 Air model this fall. This has been repeatedly reported by insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. Now he has revealed new details about the device.

Like the MacBook Air, the smartphone will be thinner than the standard models and will combine premium and budget features. According to Gurman, Apple engineers worked hard to reduce the thickness of the device without compromising battery life.

The company also considered releasing the iPhone 17 Air without any ports, so that charging would only be done wirelessly and data transfer would be done via cloud services.

However, this idea has been shelved for now, in particular due to the likely reaction of European regulators, who have obliged smartphone manufacturers to support USB-C. Incidentally, it was because of these requirements that Apple had to replace its proprietary Lightning connector with USB-C.

As for the specifications of the iPhone 17 Air, it is known that the device will receive a 6.6-inch 120 Hz ProMotion display with Dynamic Island, one 48 MP main camera, an A19 processor and a proprietary 5G C1 modem. The novelty will cost about $900.
