Apple is preparing for its traditional September announcement of the new iPhone 17 line, but this year it has decided to change its approach. Instead of the Plus model, the company will introduce the iPhone 17 Air - a thinner and lighter smartphone. However, according to the latest data, Apple is not sure about its popularity among users.
According to Spyglass, the company has allocated only 10% of its production capacity to the iPhone 17 Air, while the main focus is on the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Pro models, which will receive 40% and 25%, respectively. The reason for this limited production may be the compromises that Apple had to make due to the thin body of the device. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a smaller battery that may not provide all-day battery life, as well as only a single rear camera and a single speaker.
To compensate for the battery limitations, Apple plans to release a special case with a built-in battery. Only time will tell how popular and profitable the idea of an ultra-thin iPhone will be.
