Apple announced a new MagSafe battery at its presentation on September 9, 2025. The product page states that "MagSafe Battery was created exclusively for iPhone Air," so it will not work with the iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Pro.
The accessory costs $99. Images in the Apple store show the battery attached to an iPhone Air, placed next to an iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro. It can be seen that on other models it would rest against the camera module, making compatibility technically impossible.
By the way, this is the first official external battery from Apple since 2023, when the company discontinued the MagSafe Battery Pack after the release of the iPhone 15. At the same time, iPhone 17 and 17 Pro owners have access to a wide selection of MagSafe-compatible batteries from third-party manufacturers.
Recall that Apple also showed off the new AirPods Pro 3 headphones, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3 smartwatches at the event, as well as the basic iPhone 17, the ultra-thin iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro.
