Apple is working on a new World Knowledge Answers tool that will integrate with Siri to search for information on the Internet with AI-generated results. According to Bloomberg, the company is already testing a specially customized Google Gemini model that will run on Apple's server infrastructure.
The feature is set to launch in spring 2026 with iOS 26.4, and will be part of a major Siri update. The new assistant will be able to combine web searches and personal data, and the results will be displayed in the form of text, photos, videos, and location data. In addition, a system for summarizing answers will be added to make them faster and more accurate.
Apple plans to use its own Foundation Models to work with user data to preserve privacy, but is also evaluating third-party solutions. In addition to Google Gemini, the company is considering Anthropic's Claude for response planning features.
Apple is also reportedly considering integrating the feature into Safari and Spotlight. The company is also preparing a Siri redesign and working on a separate AI health assistant that will become part of a paid subscription in 2026.
The new decision comes as Apple maintains its search deal with Google, which brings in about $20 billion a year, as the company tries to reduce its reliance on traditional search and catch up with competitors in the generative AI market, including OpenAI and Perplexity.
