Aaeon introduces Raspberry Pi competitor with Intel processor and up to 16 GB of RAM

- 20 June, 02:09 PM

Aaeon, a company known for its industrial solutions, has announced a new single-board computer, the Up Squared TWL. The device is aimed at professional and hobbyist applications, supports Windows and Linux, and can become a powerful alternative to the Raspberry Pi 5.

The Up Squared TWL is available with Intel Core 3 N355, Intel N250 or N150 chips based on the Alder Lake-N architecture, with improved power efficiency and integrated Intel UHD graphics. The maximum configuration includes up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 128 GB of eMMC storage.

Despite its compact dimensions (86 × 90 mm), the board is equipped with:

  • 3× USB 3.2 Gen 2
  • 2× Gigabit Ethernet
  • HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.2, eDisplayPort 1.3
  • RS232/422/485, GPIO and I2C connectors
  • 12–24V power supply

There is also support for M.2 2230 E-Key for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth modules and M.2 2280 B-Key for NVMe SSDs.

Unlike the Raspberry Pi, which is aimed at the DIY community and has a lower cost, the Aaeon Up Squared TWL offers a more powerful platform with expanded peripherals and official support for Windows 10/11. This makes the device attractive to developers in robotics, automation, and other industries.

Aaeon has not yet revealed the price of the Up Squared TWL, but it is likely to be much higher than the Raspberry Pi 5.
