Sony Pictures has released a trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which was filmed in parallel with the previous installment, 28 Years Later, which received a 9.5 out of 10 in the Frontiers review.

Unlike the third installment in the zombie franchise, Nia DaCosta will direct 28 Days Later, replacing Danny Boyle. Alex Garland, who also wrote the first 28 Days Later film, is still in charge of the script.

"Expanding upon the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland in 28 Years Later but turning that world on its head - Nia DaCosta directs 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship - with consequences that could change the world as they know it - and Spike's (Alfie Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) becomes a nightmare he can't escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival - the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifyingg," the synopsis reads.

The premiere of 28 Years Later: Temple of Bones will take place on January 16, 2026. Recall that the previous part became the most successful in the franchise, and in addition to "Temple of Bones", a third film in the "28 Years Later" series is planned, but its fate will directly depend on the box office of the upcoming film.

In addition, Cillian Murphy will make a brief appearance in Temple of Bones, but will have a much larger role in the sequel. Director Danny Boyle told Variety that Murphy will be "a huge character in the third film."
