Summer is in full swing, and as always in July, there are almost no big releases, but that doesn't mean there won't be any worthy games. We'll get nostalgic returns of cult franchises, fresh experiments from independent studios, and even a couple of Ukrainian projects worth supporting. This is the meditative railway construction in Super Loco World, and the interesting experimental mystical narrative game The Demons Told Me to Make This Game.
In addition, the developers promise adrenaline-pumping gunfights in Killing Floor III, cozy hobbit life in Tales of the Shire, demonic soulslike adventures in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. There are also remakes of classics like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 and Patapon 1+2 Replay, and long-awaited sequels like Grounded 2.
Patapon 1+2 Replay
Release date: July 11, 2025
Genre: rhythm game, strategy
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch
In 2007, a strange, charming and unusually rhythmic game called Patapon appeared on the legendary PSP. Players tapped out commands to the beat of drums, and tiny war-obsessed balls with eyes obediently went into battle. "Pata-pata-pata-pon!" - this march was heard by everyone who played. And although the graphics were minimalist, the strategy had to be thought out really well. And there was also great music.
It is not surprising that Patapon was considered "a game that sells consoles", and major gaming publications such as IGN and Eurogamer competed to confess their love for rhythmic balls and called the game a must-have for every PSP owner. A sequel was released quite quickly, and later another. Now Bandai Namco is combining the first and second generations of Patapons in the new multi-platform edition Patapon 1+2 Replay. Everything familiar remains: the player is a god, the balls are his army, and you will have to win not by force, but by rhythm. Hundreds of types of weapons and armor, several classes of units and the same soundtrack that stays in your head for a long time.
The game includes updated versions of the two parts with small bonuses: in particular, difficulty levels for beginners and masochists have appeared. There is no Ukrainian localization yet, but the Patapon language is universal.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4
Release date: July 11, 2025
Genre: simulator, sports
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One / Series X|S (Game Pass), Nintendo Switch / Switch 2
The game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, or rather its remake, is back. With improved graphics, new modes, and a couple of skates that were definitely not in the original (like the Revenant from DOOM?). The Iron Galaxy studio is responsible for the revival of the iconic games for skateboarding fans, and the release will take place on July 11.
The standard package includes all the familiar tracks, tricks, parks, and the same drive that made you run the Airport level ten times. We've also added something new: an expanded skate and park editor, new skates, hardcore tricks, and cosmetics for those extreme fans who care about visual style.
But there is also a bit of tar in this skater honey. The career mode from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, the same one with open locations and tasks without a timer, was cut out for some reason. It was replaced with classic 2-minute missions with a timer, like in the first parts. A separate freeride was left for the soul, but old fans have already managed to be indignant on social networks: they say, it's more like Pro Skater 3+ with bonuses.
Despite this, everything looks solid from a technical perspective. The Deluxe Edition lets you start three days early and gives you a bunch of cosmetic goodies, and the game will be available from day one on Game Pass.
Super Loco World
Release date: July 14, 2025
Genre: simulator, economic strategy, automation
Platforms: Windows
Finally, a Ukrainian game that will allow you to feel like a real tycoon, only without cigars and boring financial reports. In Super Loco World, you will find a railway world with simple controls, a cozy atmosphere and an economy that can confuse even an experienced strategist.
The player needs to build a network of railway tracks, launch trains, deliver goods, and gradually automate everything possible. Traffic lights, signposts, and stops are not decorations, but tools to avoid creating a transport Armageddon at the first station.
And yes, here you don't need to sweat for hours over the bends of the rails: just draw a route, and the game will add everything itself - bridges, forks, sharp turns. But you shouldn't relax either: if you don't take into account fuel costs, instead of a logistics empire you can get a very stylish, but very empty train station.
Each game world is randomly generated, so you won't get bored. We are looking forward to this promising simulator with great expectations and will support the Ukrainian developer. Andriy Bychkovsky is known for his strategy game about conquering Mars Farlanders.
Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream
Release date: July 15, 2025
Genre: stealth, tactical puzzle
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream promises to combine an interesting plot, great graphics, stealth, and the atmosphere of early 20th century Scandinavia. The story centers on Hannah, who is searching for her missing brother and, as usual, inadvertently sets the plot several disasters ahead.
The player controls three heroes, each with their own set of skills. The heroes have the skills to hide, observe, cheat and avoid being caught by the guards. The developers were most likely inspired by Commandos and Shadow Tactics, except that you can't kill enemies here, only cheat. And there are also puzzles, enemy routes and bushes, in which you will have to sit more often than in online conversations with colleagues.
Judging by the trailer, we can expect really stylish hand-drawn animation, drama, and something darkly disturbing that, apparently, is lurking behind the facade of this beautiful place.
Donkey Kong Bananza
Release date: July 17, 2025
Genre: platformer
Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2
Donkey Kong returns to the new Nintendo Switch 2 handheld and once again sets out in search of bananas. But this time he will have to dig a little deeper. Literally. In Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo's favorite primate goes to the mysterious island of Ingot, where golden bananas have been discovered in the depths. The plan was simple: come, collect, leave. But, as usual, something went wrong - bad weather takes Kong to the very dungeon. There, in the company of his old friend Paulina, he tries to reach the core of the planet, because it is it that, according to legend, can grant wishes.
The gameplay is a free 3D wandering through various biomes that change with each layer of the dungeon. There are not only mines here, expect lava rivers, crystal caves, bizarre thickets and other surprises. The developers advise not to spare your strength: break everything you see, because behind every block there is something hidden.
Paulina isn't just there for beauty, her songs give Kong the ability to change form if the player has enough gold. This adds a nice bit of variety: one form is better for fighting, another for platforming, and a third for finding secrets.
And there's also co-op. You can play with two people, sharing control of Kong and Paulina. Even over the network, and even with only one copy of the game thanks to the GameShare feature.
Neon Abyss 2
Release date: July 17, 2025 (Steam Early Access)
Genre: roguelike, action/platformer
Platforms: Windows (Steam Early Access)
Veewo Games is preparing a sequel to its successful action game Neon Abyss. This time, the developers decided to completely remove restrictions and give players maximum freedom to experiment.
The main feature of Neon Abyss 2 is the complete removal of the limit on the number of items. Now you can accumulate bonuses as much as you want, creating the craziest synergies. The arsenal has also expanded significantly: from classic bats and sabers to exotic deadly plants.
Hatchmons are introduced - companion creatures that aid in combat and add charm to races. A new faith system allows you to spend accumulated points in the store on powerful items and additional Hatchmons.
RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business
Release date: July 17, 2025
Genre: shooter
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
Good old RoboCop is back: he has unfinished business. Unfinished Business is a standalone add-on to RoboCop: Rogue City, so you can leave the base game alone. And if you remember that VHS splash with Detroit crime and bloody justice, then know this: the neo-noir adventures are just beginning.
The plot continues the story immediately after the finale of the original. The criminals are still breathing, the OCP corporation is still building, and the OmniTower - a skyscraper-utopia - is transformed into a fortress for mercenaries with the latest weapons. So our titan cop will have to restore order again.
A special feature of Unfinished Business is flashbacks. Here we will be allowed to play as Alex Murphy before he became an armored avenger. Living flesh, human doubts, dramatic twists - everything is as it should be. And next to him is a new partner: scientist Miranda Hale, who once worked at OCP, but escaped from the dark side in time.
In addition to spectacular shooting, the addition promises new levels, enemies, and a dose of sharp social criticism in the classic "robot vs. the system" style.
The Demons Told Me to Make This Game
Release date: July 21, 2025 (Steam Early Access)
Genre: role-playing game, visual novel
Platforms: Windows, Mac
The Demons Told Me to Make This Game is an interesting and unusual project from a Ukrainian developer: a Lovecraftian atmosphere, a time loop, and constant difficult choices in a format that is somewhat similar to Disco Elysium. If you have ever wanted to whisper strange thoughts into people's heads, make them beat up their grandmothers, and then turn back time to make everything even stranger, we have good news for you. In this game, you are not quite a person, but a Strange Shadow, a disembodied spirit who found himself in a small American town during a demonic invasion.
In Red Hives, there is panic, people are trying to survive, demons are not sleeping. Well, you quietly enter the heads of several amateur exorcists and try to make them behave a little more naturally. It is harder than it seems. You cannot force them directly, only convince, manipulate, use fears, change the past and start mini-games when diplomacy does not work. Each of the characters has their own character, cockroaches in their heads and a full-fledged will that will have to be broken… but with love.
The idea is simple: to save everyone, you need to go through the same loop of events many times, look at them from different angles, constantly change something, experiment, and sometimes just let someone die for the sake of science. The town where all this takes place looks quiet, but behind its facade is a continuous tragedy, skeletons in the closets and horrors that the demons themselves do not yet know about.
TDTMTMTG (what an acronym!) is a game about a calm voice in your head that stubbornly whispers: "Come on. Do it. Just one more time. Differently. More brutally. With a better result." And if that doesn't scare you, but on the contrary - attracts you, maybe this is the game for you.
Monument Valley 3
Release date: July 22, 2025
Genre: puzzle
Platforms: Windows, Playstation 4 / 5, Xbox One / Series X|s, Nintendo Switch (previously on Netflix for Android and iOS)
A monumental return is now for everyone. Previously, only a select few could experience the magic of Monument Valley 3 via Netflix on Android and iOS, but now the magical story of Noor is setting sail and calling everyone with it.
A meditative journey awaits us in a world where geometry does not obey the laws of physics, and logic flows like water. A little apprentice searches for light, and at the same time - for herself, for her place among ruins, temples and waves. Her boat is not just a means of transport, but a faithful compass in a constantly changing world.
There's no need to rush here. You just have to look out into space, turn a corner, raise a bridge, change gravity, and a seemingly impossible path will become obvious.
Killing Floor III
Release date: July 24, 2025
Genre: co-op first-person shooter
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
The third installment of the cooperative zombie shooter Killing Floor was supposed to be released in the spring, but the feedback from the closed beta was so "lukewarm" that the release had to be postponed. Now Tripwire Interactive promises that all the most painful moments, such as performance, interface problems and shooting problems, will be finalized by the new release date of July 24. Well, at least most of them.
Players will have to once again become part of the Twilight squad to destroy waves of mutants - alone (almost impossible), or in the company of five other like-minded people. At the center is the familiar gameplay: blood, flesh, pumping and a ton of adrenaline. And behind the scenes - support from Embracer Group and promises of a "long life of the game" with updates and constant addition of interesting content after the release.
Ratatan
Release date: July 24, 2025
Genre: rhythm strategy, roguelike
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One / Series X|S, Nintendo Switch
This July we will see not only the updated first parts of Potapon, but also their spiritual descendant. Or rather – a brother (or sister, who knows), because the same developers are responsible for the creation of Ratatan. Ratatan combines the familiar magic of commanding an army to the rhythm of music with fresh roguelike mechanics that promise to make each playthrough unique.
When the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign began, the developers managed to raise over 100 million yen (almost $700,000) in just a couple of days, clearly demonstrating how much players missed this unique genre, where rhythm and strategy merge into one.
As in the original series, here we control a small army of cute "rattans" through magical musical instruments. The main trick has remained the same: for the wards to fight effectively, you need to get exactly in time with the melody. If you manage to maintain the rhythm for a long time, a special mode with additional features and power-ups is activated. But now, elements of a roguelike have been added to this formula - each new adventure will bring random improvements, rewards and surprises.
Ratatan will support both solo play and online co-op for up to four players. This means you can now gather your friends and create a symphony of chaos together, coordinating your armies to a common rhythm. Imagine four teams of Ratatan marching in sync - it must be a real spectacle.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Release date: July 24, 2025
Genre: action/ RPG, soulslike
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (including Game Pass)
Chinese studio Leenzee is preparing to release Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – a soulslike in a gloomy setting of an alternative Ming Empire. The main character, a former pirate named Wuchang, finds herself at the center of the fight against a demonic plague that has swept the country. The developers describe the game as a journey through chaos, in which you will have to confront the ghosts of the past and survive after being infected with a mysterious disease.
The game world consists of non-linear locations filled with enemies, treasures and secrets. And in battle, not only a rich arsenal will help, but also dark magic. According to Leenzee representatives, every detail of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – from the design of the bosses to the folklore subtexts – is created with great respect for classic soulslike.
Tales of the Shire
Release date: July 29, 2025
Genre: life simulator, action/adventure
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch
I think I wouldn't be far wrong if I said that most of us are pretty tired of reality. From instability, news that doesn't let go, and the feeling that the world is about to fall into the abyss. At such moments, you want something truly peaceful, like the breathing of the earth, like an evening in the Shire. That's exactly what Tales of the Shire promises to be - a game in which you don't have to rush anywhere, you don't have to fight anyone, and the most pressing question is whether the pumpkins are ripe yet.
You create your hobbit alter ego and arrive in Bywater – a small, typical hobbit settlement – cozy and peaceful. Here you can decorate your hole, grow flowers, cook soups, chat with your neighbors, fish and just live, without the need to achieve anything or survive. All the main things happen not on the battlefield, but in the kitchen, in the garden, at the table with pies.
There is a plot here too: Bywater wants to become a full-fledged settlement, but not everyone agrees with this. Instead of disasters, there are small hobbit worries, such as a stubborn cow blocking the bridge. The weather changes, the seasons change, and cooking requires attention to detail: everything from seasoning to the duration of stirring matters.
Tales of the Shire reminds us of the world before it broke. Of things that don't disappear, even when everything around us becomes unstable. Sometimes that's exactly what's needed to feel like we can still breathe.
Grounded 2
Release date: July 29, 2025 (Early Access)
Genre: survival, action/adventure
Platforms: Windows, Xbox Series X|S (Game Pass)
This summer, Obsidian is releasing Grounded 2, a sequel to the cooperative survival game where we're once again the size of an ant, but the problems don't get any smaller. Quite the opposite: they get bigger, and the atmosphere gets noticeably darker.
At first glance, it's a familiar park: grass, plastic slides, sunshine. But you only have to look under a leaf and you'll find something watching you. Something learning. Something waiting for you to lose your vigilance.
Grounded 2 introduces new archetypes with unique abilities that will help you adapt to your playstyle: cunning, precise, or just plain brutal. And, of course, you can't do without a team, because surviving alone in this garden is too difficult.
But the main novelty is the buggies. No, not cars – what kind of cars do insects have? These are our own insect friends. They can be raised, saddled, sent to collect resources or into battle.
Grounded 2 launches on July 29, 2025 in Early Access on PC and Xbox Series X|S. On Game Pass – from day one.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound
Release date: July 31, 2025
Genre: action
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One / Series X|S, Nintendo Switch
Spanish studio The Game Kitchen, known for the Metroidvania Blasphemous dilogy, has taken on the task of reviving the legendary Ninja Gaiden series. Ragebound takes place in parallel with the events of the original game: while Ryu Hayabusa avenges the death of his father, the barrier between the worlds of humans and demons collapses, and an army of demons invades his home village.
In the absence of the main character, a young ninja, Kenji Mozu from the Hayabusa clan, takes on the task of saving the situation. But he will have to team up with an unexpected ally - Kumori from the Black Spider clan. This heroine disregards ninja traditions, actively using modern weapons along with demonic power.
A new gameplay trailer shows how the characters unite their essences through forbidden power. Players will be able to switch between the protagonists and use their unique abilities in different situations. Kenji follows the classic ninja traditions, while Kumori represents a more modern and aggressive approach to combat.
The Game Kitchen promises to preserve the spirit of the original series, adding its own vision of the combat system and atmosphere. In the trailers, the game looks very good, nice and dynamic, with respect for the original, but not at all archaic. Given the success of Blasphemous, you can expect a quality slasher with deep mechanics and stylish visual presentation.
