Samsung has introduced an update to its line of smartwatches, which this time includes the Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic models. I already managed to test them during the presentation, so let’s take a closer look at what interesting things these models can offer.

With the updated line of smartwatches, Samsung presented two models, but in four sizes. So we have the 40 and 44 mm Galaxy Watch6 and the 43 and 47 mm Watch6 Classic.

At the same time, the models differ in size, design, and materials.

The Galaxy Watch6 has not changed externally, the watch uses the same case made of reinforced aluminum, but the display is now covered by sapphire glass. The main change in design was larger Super AMOLED displays. The 40 mm watch has a 1.3-inch screen with a resolution of 432×432 pixels, and the 44 mm watch has a 1.5-inch screen with a resolution of 480×480 pixels.

The Watch6 Classic model is a return to the classic design of watches in the Samsung line, which the company abandoned in the last generation. That was not liked by many users.

Therefore, to their delight, a larger new model with a rotating bezel, a steel case, sapphire glass, and screens is presented. In the 43 mm case, it is a 1.3-inch, and in the 47 mm – a 1.5-inch display with the same characteristics as in the younger version.

All models of Samsung’s new smartwatches offer 5ATM and IP68 water and dust protection. They also have a Samsung bioactive sensor that includes an optical heart rate monitor and can perform electrocardiogram and bioelectrical impedance analysis. Additionally, there is a temperature sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, light sensor, and Hall sensor.

One of the innovations in the Galaxy Watch6 line will be the flashing arrhythmia notification, which will monitor the user’s vital signs for signs of atrial fibrillation, a common heart disease that can lead to serious health problems over time.

The operation of all sensors and their new capabilities in the Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic is ensured by a new platform with an Exynos W930 processor, which operates at a frequency of 1.4 GHz and is complemented by 2 GB of RAM and 16 internal memory.

Thanks to the new chip, the watch interface works faster and can display more complex graphics. Samsung used the new operating system Wear OS 4 with its own One UI 5 Watch shell, which in general is convenient to use on the watch screen.

Among the connectivity options of the Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic, it is worth highlighting the availability of versions with LTE, which will allow you to connect to the Internet without using a smartphone. The watch connects to the latter using Bluetooth 5.3 and also has Wi-Fi and NFC modules. GPS is used to track the route while running and navigate through Google Maps.

As before, Samsung’s new smartwatches help track physical activity and sports, and the new models have improved sleep tracking, which now provides more information about its quality. In addition, a sleep coach has appeared, which tells you what steps you need to take to get a better night’s sleep.

Along with an increase in screens and a new platform, the watches also received slightly larger batteries. The 40 mm version of the Galaxy Watch6 has a 300 mAh battery, and the 44 mm version has a 425 mAh battery. Samsung promises that this should be enough for up to 40 hours of work or 30 hours with the screen always on.

Despite the larger size of the case, the Galaxy Watch6 Classic has the same batteries – 300 mAh for the 43 mm and 425 mAh for the 47 mm version. At the same time, battery life is declared at the same level.

At first glance, the Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic don’t bring much new to Samsung’s smartwatch lineup, but it’s a major update that brings several new features to users. These include bigger and brighter displays, a faster platform with better graphics, bigger batteries, flashing arrhythmia alerts, and more detailed sleep tracking. In this way, Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic make tracking physical health more comfortable on the one hand, and on the other, expand the number and quality of indicators that a user can get from their watch.

Galaxy Watch6 will be available in 44 mm graphite and silver colors and 40 mm graphite and gold colors for UAH 11,999 for the Bluetooth version and UAH 13,999 for the LTE version.
