Taiwanese computer and server hardware manufacturer Acer has announced a 10% increase in prices for its products in the United States due to import duties on Chinese goods imposed by Donald Trump, The Telegraph reports.

This was announced personally by Acer CEO and Chairman of the Board Jason Chen.

"We will have to adjust the end user price to reflect the tariff," Chen said. "We think 10pc probably will be the default price increase because of the import tax. It’s very straightforward."

US President-elect Donald Trump has imposed a ten percent tariff on imports from China, which accounts for about 80% of laptop supplies to the US. He assured that this decision would not affect end consumers.

According to Jason Chen, it is unclear whether prices for all Acer products will rise or only for goods imported after the introduction of duties. He also said that the company is considering options for transferring part of its production to other countries, including the United States.
