Google has announced an update for Gemini, its AI product that competes with ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Apple Intelligence.
Users of the Gemini app can now access the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking experimental model, which is trained to break down queries into a series of steps to improve its reasoning capabilities. The new model demonstrates its thought process, giving users insight into why it answers the way it does.
Flash Thinking version 2.0 has also been released, which can interact with applications such as YouTube, Google Search, and Google Maps.
An experimental version of Gemini 2.0 Pro is still available. Google claims that it is currently the best model for programming and answering complex queries. Gemini 2.0 Pro is available in Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, and the Gemini app for Gemini Advanced subscribers.
In addition, the Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite model is available in Google AI Studio, and Google claims that it is the most cost-effective model to date.
The Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental and 2.0 Pro Experimental models are now being rolled out in the Gemini web and mobile app. They are available for selection in the Gemini menu when interacting with AI.
