At CES 2025, an interesting gadget was presented – the Aurzen ZIP pocket folding projector, which looks like a copy of folding smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Flip in size and design, but with three sections instead of two.

Recently, portable projectors have become quite popular – not everyone needs the highest image quality at the home theater level, but the convenience of transportation and the ease of creating a large screen in almost any environment have proven to be much more attractive to the average user.

Aurzen ZIP takes projector portability to a new level – while other models in this class require a separate bag or backpack for transportation, this projector fits easily in the palm of your hand: body dimensions are 84×78×26 mm and weight is 280 g.

The stand makes it very easy to adjust the direction of image projection and screen position, and the autofocus system is based on ToF (Time-of-flight) technology, similar to that used in radars, but a light pulse is used to measure distance instead of a radio wave. Thanks to this, Aurzen ZIP, according to the manufacturer, measures the distance to the screen 30 times per second and corrects focus and keystone distortion without the slightest delay.

The built-in 5,000 mAh battery should provide an hour and a half of battery life, and the projector is also known to support fast charging (24W) via USB Type-C. The manufacturer promises maximum ease of connection and screen mirroring of mobile devices without using Wi-Fi (devices on Android, Windows, iOS, macOS are supported).

As for the main characteristics of the projector, Aurzen ZIP uses DLP projection technology, the maximum lumen output is 100 ANSI lumens, the native image resolution is 720p, and the projection ratio is 1.09:1.

There are also built-in stereo speakers with a power of 2x1W and a wireless Bluetooth 5.4 module.

The company launched the project on Kickstarter, where it can be pre-ordered for $249. Shipments are expected in March this year, and the full price will be $399.
