YouTube is expanding its automatic video dubbing feature, which allows translating videos into different languages, to more creators. According to the company’s blog, hundreds of thousands of affiliate program participants will be able to use this new feature.
Initially, the feature will be available to video creators with a focus on knowledge and new information, and later it will be available to more authors.
You will be able to use the automatic dubbing function when uploading a video to YouTube. After that, the platform will automatically process the video, determining which language the author speaks, and create a dubbed version with translation.
Currently, the number of languages is limited, but YouTube explains the logic behind the translation. If a video is in English, it will be automatically translated into French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Indonesian, and Hindi. If the video is in one of these languages, it will be automatically translated into English.
The company notes that this technology is still relatively new and does not always work perfectly, but the development team is working hard to ensure that the translation and dubbing are as accurate as possible. They also ask authors who have access to the new feature to provide feedback.
YouTube also notes that the developers will continue to work with the Google DeepMind and Google Translate teams “to bring cutting edge capabilities to make dubs even more accurate, expressive, and natural.”
