Ukrainian AI company Reface is laying off 35% of its team, or 60 employees. This is stated in an official statement on LinkedIn.

“This is a very difficult decision for us as we say goodbye to many talented colleagues who have made invaluable contributions to Reface’s transformation from a faith-based face replacement app to a multi-product AI company. We are sincerely grateful to each and every one of them for their work, energy, and dedication,” the statement reads.

The post notes that over the past two years, the company has been actively experimenting and has created seven new products. However, some decisions turned out to be too optimistic and did not yield the expected results. The layoffs were taken as a necessary step to enable the company to operate more efficiently, ensuring profitability and expanding its capabilities from the beginning of 2025.

As a reminder, Reface is a Ukrainian company that creates products based on artificial intelligence. The company’s most popular product is the eponymous Reface mobile app, which allows replacing faces in videos and photos, generating AI portraits, and much more. The app has been downloaded more than 250 million times.

The company’s other products include Revive, a mobile app for animating static images, Restyle, another app for changing the style of a photo or video, and unboring.ai, an AI platform for content creation.
