Casio has introduced the G-Shock DW-5000R, an updated version of its first watch in the G-Shock series, the DW-5000C, which the company introduced back in 1983.

The new watch has been recreated with meticulous precision. The strap has the original DW-5000C design in both length and in the unevenness of the area around the holes and in the position of the dimples. The “PROTECTION” and “G-SHOCK” lettering, colors, stainless steel case and caseback have also been carefully reproduced.

In addition, the new watch is manufactured at Yamagata Casio, the parent factory of G-Shock, where the original model was created.

However, some elements have been changed for improvement. In particular, the functionality of the buttons and, accordingly, the captions to them. Casio has also added a high-brightness LED backlight to the DW-5000R. The bezel and strap are made of biological resin, a material that is supposed to reduce the impact on the environment.

In addition, a detailed comparison of both the original 1983 version and the updated DW-5000R was conducted on the company’s Japanese website.
