Amazon Prime Video has announced a new feature based on artificial intelligence – X-Ray Recaps. It will allow viewers to generate textual summaries of previous seasons, episodes, or even moments from series without the need to use other services.

“Whether you’re a few minutes into a new episode, halfway through a season, or took a break from watching a series and need a refresher, X-Ray Recaps delivers short textual snippets of key cliffhangers, character-driven plot points, and other details that can be accessed at any point in your viewing experience,” the official statement said.

Recaps will build on the existing X-Ray feature, which allows Amazon Prime users to get additional information about a series, such as cast, soundtrack titles, production details, and more.

X-Ray Recaps will analyze video segments along with subtitles and dialogues to generate detailed descriptions of key moments, events, places, time periods, and conversations. According to Amazon, one of the benefits of the built-in feature is that it will also help prevent spoilers.

The new Prime Video feature is currently available in beta for Fire TV users in the US, with support for additional devices coming by the end of 2024. At release, X-Ray Recaps will be available for all Amazon MGM Studios Original series.
