Google has added the ability to control smart devices via the Gemini chatbot. This was reported by The Verge.

Users can already give Gemini instructions in a conversational format. For example, the command “Clean the kitchen” will turn on the robot vacuum cleaner and go to clean the kitchen. Previously, in similar cases, Gemini opened Google Assistant.

Unfortunately, the chatbot does not yet support all smart devices. Users will still have to open the Google Home app to control security devices, including cameras, locks, gates, and doors.

The update is available in English only in Public Preview mode. You can join the test in the application settings. You can also do this on the Google Home page at the following link.

After that, you need to start a conversation with Gemini from the same Google account. In this conversation, you can ask Gemini to perform a specific action, such as “turn on the lights in the living room.”
