Apple is acquiring Pixelmator, the developers of the photo editing software for macOS and iOS. The Pixelmator team announced this in a blog post, where they also wrote that this will allow them to attract a larger audience.
The details of the transaction remain secret, and it is still subject to approval from Lithuanian regulators. The Pixelmator team also notes that there will be no changes as a result of the acquisition.
“Pixelmator has signed an agreement to be acquired by Apple, subject to regulatory approval. There will be no material changes to the Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator apps at this time. Stay tuned for exciting updates to come,” the statement reads.
Pixelmator is considered one of the best alternatives to Adobe Photoshop. Unlike Adobe, the company requires only a single purchase of its software for $49. The editor can offer users the entire set of functions they need to work with photos, and recently, the program has also introduced AI-based features.
