The Kickstarter campaign of the Ukrainian zoo simulator Super Zoo Story has ended. As a result, the project raised $252,404 from 5,385 users of the service, which is four times more than the initial Kickstarter amount of $60 thousand.

All additional goals, which were calculated to reach $250 thousand, have been achieved. Among them are porting the game to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, an additional island, a tourist area, etc.

Super Zoo Story fell just short of the record result for Ukrainian games, which was demonstrated by Sherlock Holmes The Awakened in 2022. Back then, the game from Frogwares raised €252,599 on Kickstarter, which is more than $274 thousand at the current exchange rate.

Super Zoo Story received a portion of criticism from Ukrainian players due to the lack of information about the Ukrainian localization on the Steam page and the presence of the Russian language. Later, the Ukrainian localization was added to the list.

In addition, many criticized Super Zoo Story for its excessive similarity to the most popular game of the cozy games genre – Stardew Valley by Eric Baron. Allegedly, it seems that Eric himself became interested in the situation. On the other hand, since the release of Stardew Valley, hundreds of games of this genre have already used similar stylistics and gameplay mechanics.

According to the Kickstarter page, Super Zoo Story is scheduled for release in June 2026.
