Meta continues to improve the WhatsApp messenger by announcing an important update for it.
We are talking about the built-in contact manager. Until now, the contacts in WhatsApp have been synchronized with the contacts on the phone on which it is installed. This can be a problem for those who, for example, have lost their phone and don’t have a backup, or for those who use one phone, or manage multiple accounts with separate contacts on one device.
The built-in contact manager allows you to save your contacts directly in the app. That means you won’t lose them if you change your phone.
Initially, users will be able to save contacts on WhatsApp Web and Windows. Later, the innovation will appear on other connected devices.
Meta says the company will use a new privacy technology called Identity Proof Linked Storage (IPLS) to store contacts. It stores names and numbers in encrypted form and allows only you to access them.
WhatsApp users will be able to save contacts in WhatsApp soon.
