The strike of video game voice actors may soon end. The American union SAG-AFTRA has announced that negotiations on working conditions will resume on October 23. This was reported by The Verge.

SAG-AFTRA and the members of the negotiating team, which includes Activision, Insomniac Games, Take Two, Electronic Arts and others, have been negotiating a new interactive media agreement for almost two years.

In September 2023, SAG-AFTRA members voted to authorize a strike, warning that a strike would be called if the two sides failed to reach an agreement. In the summer of 2024, the strike officially began.

The failure of the negotiations was related to the protection of workers from the use of artificial intelligence. SAG-AFTRA argued that the negotiating committee refused to provide protection for both voice and motion performers. The companies involved in the negotiations disagreed, saying that the proposed protection was in line with industry standards.

The talks resume shortly after SAG-AFTRA announced that it was adding League of Legends to the list of games on strike. The union filed an unfair labor practices complaint against Formosa Entertainment, the company that provides voice acting services for League and other games developed by Riot Games. SAG-AFTRA claimed that the company tried to circumvent the strike by hiring actors who were not members of the guild.
