Amazon unveils new Kindles, including its first color e-book

Amazon has introduced new Kindle e-books, including the new Paperwhite, Scribe, and the first color Colorsoft Signature Edition. The information about the new products appeared on an accidentally published page that has already been taken down, The Verge reports.

The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, the company’s first color e-book, will “offer rich, paper-like colors.” Images on the device will be enlarged without pixelation. It will be waterproof, have fast page turning, wireless charging, 8 weeks of operation on a single charge, and will cost $279. The website also said that shipments would begin on October 30, which means that the official announcement will take place soon.

The next device is the Kindle Scribe, a new e-book and electronic notebook. The screen has white bezels and was designed to make writing on it feel like writing on real paper. However, this requires an Amazon Premium Pencil. Users will be able to add notes directly on the pages of the book, as well as on the sidebar, which can be hidden later.

Scribe has also received artificial intelligence features to summarize pages and turn their content into concise bullet points. The device will cost $399. It will start shipping to customers on December 4, and pre-orders should begin on October 16, but there is no official page at the time of writing.

Another product that appeared on the website is the updated Kindle Paperwhite, which was rumored a little earlier. According to Amazon, the new Paperwhite will be the “fastest” e-reader. The device will have a 7-inch screen, last up to three months on battery power, be waterproof, and have 16 GB of storage.

The regular version will cost $159, while the Signature Edition with 32 GB of storage will cost $199. According to the website, the new Paperwhites should become available on October 16.

The regular Kindle will also receive updates: weighing about 160 grams, a glare-free screen with 300 pixels per inch, fast page turning, and 16 GB of storage. This device should also become available on October 16 for $109.
