In France, Uber Eats will deliver orders in Releaf Paper Bags, which are made of paper from fallen leaves. This was announced by Releaf Paper co-founder Olexandr Sobolenko.
According to him, the official announcement of the cooperation with Uber took place on October 8, 2024, in London as part of the Go Get Zero event. But in fact, the company has been actively supplying Parisian restaurants with its “leafy products” for several weeks now.
“+1 global player in our portfolio and strengthening of our position in the EU market. We did it,” Oleksandr Sobolenko wrote on Facebook.
The technology for converting fallen leaves into paper was developed by Ukrainian inventor Valentyn Frechka. This technology later formed the basis of the business of Releaf Paper, which was founded in 2021.
The startup received a grant from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It also attracted a €2.5 million grant from the EU to build a factory. Valentyn Frechka spoke in detail about Releaf Paper technology in an interview with Mezha.Media.
