Starting October 15, 2024, creators will be able to upload longer Shorts to YouTube. The company has listened to the creators and increased the video length to 3 minutes, according to the official blog.

This change applies to videos with a square or higher aspect ratio and will not affect videos that were uploaded before October 15. In addition, YouTube says it will improve recommendations for longer videos over the next few months.

In addition, the company is adding more features to make video creation easier. First of all, users will now be able to easily use templates from other videos. For example, transitions, songs, or sounds.

In addition, in the next few months, the Shorts creation camera will be able to access a large amount of content from YouTube. Users will be able to use videos, music, clips, and more right from the menu to create a new short video. In addition to this, creators will soon have access to Veo, Google’s AI model for video generation.

And for those who are not interested in short-format videos on YouTube, the company is introducing the ability to customize the feed and adds the option “Show less Shorts.” After that, users will see fewer recommendations of short videos in the main feed.
