Google has announced that its Gemini Live conversational artificial intelligence will support 40 new languages. It is not yet known which languages they will be.

The new languages should be available “in the coming weeks”. Previously, only English, German, Spanish, French, and Portuguese were supported, so this is a very significant expansion.

Earlier this month, Google announced that Gemini Live is now available to all Android users. Previously, it was only available on Pixel 9 smartphones and was hidden behind the Google One AI Premium subscription.

Gemini Live is designed to replace the Google Assistant, integrates with other Google apps, and can even support conversations in two languages at the same time. Gemini can also “pull” an email from your Gmail inbox and make dictated changes to it, or schedule an event on your calendar and set a reminder.
