Engineer and toy maker James Bruton has built a miniature AT-AT walker from Star Wars that can support the weight of an adult. It took several months to design and build the walker and astronomical amounts of filament for the 3D printer.
In addition to printed parts, the inventor used aluminum extrusions and plates to make the frame. Each leg of the AT-AT has two motors inside that drive an intermediate gear and then a gear rack that controls the parallelogram mechanism.
James Brutom published the first video of his own AT-AT on July 30, 2024. In it, he talked about the process of designing and creating legs for the vehicle that could support its weight. In the new video, the inventor already demonstrates a full-fledged imperial vehicle that can reach a maximum speed of about one meter per minute.
