Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hearing a lot about the problems at Ubisoft, and in particular about the failure of the studio’s latest game, Star Wars Outlaws. Now it has become known that the game sold only 1 million copies in a month after its release. This was reported by Insider Gaming.

The day before, Ubisoft representatives stated that sales of the game were “softer than expected”. In addition, weak sales of the new Star Wars Outlaws are also one of the key reasons for the postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows from November 2024 to February 2025.

Among other things, Star Wars Outlaws is the game that Ubisoft has invested the most money in marketing in its history. However, despite such advertising expenditures, conversations around the game on social media and streaming platforms quickly died down after its release. The game was mostly mentioned in the context of its failure.

Shortly after the release, which took place on August 30, 2024, Ubisoft’s stock fell to its lowest point since 2014. After the failure of Outlaws and other problems within the studio, Ubisoft’s board of directors, along with the executive committee, launched an internal investigation to identify the source of these problems.
