Google has shown two new chromebooks: Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus and Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11. Along with the new devices, the company introduced a new Quick Insert button, similar to the Copilot button on Windows, and other AI-based features.
By pressing Quick Insert, users will get access to the Help me write AI writing tool, which will help with emails, messages, social media posts, and more, and in the future will be able to generate images. In addition, the window that appears after clicking will list the most recently visited sites and files and help you search among them.
In addition to the new button, premium Chromebooks will also get a set of other AI-based features. For example, the Help me read function, which will summarize any text on the user’s screen, whether it’s an article or a PDF file. In addition, Gemini will be permanently pinned to the taskbar, files can be pinned to the desktop, and Google has added a Focus mode for greater focus on work.
There will also be a real-time translation function and a Recorder program that will be able to create transcriptions of lectures, interviews, conversations, meetings, etc. And the last big Chromebook innovation is the Welcome Recap feature, which will show you what you did during the last session when you start the system and synchronize this data between different devices.
As already mentioned, the company introduced two new devices at once, the more expensive Galaxy Chromebook Plus with a new Quick Insert button and the cheaper Chromebook Duet 11, which will also receive new AI features, but without a new button.
The new Samsung laptop has a body weighing 1.17 kg and 11.8 millimeters thick – the thinnest and lightest of all Chromebook Plus models. It has 8 GB of RAM, an Intel Core 3 100U processor, 256 GB of storage, and a 15.6-inch OLED screen. The declared autonomy of the computer is 13 hours. It will be available in October at a price starting at $699.
The second novelty is the Chromebook Duet 11, a Lenovo 2-in-1 transformer starting at $339. It is a smaller device with a 10.95-inch WUXGA display. It is powered by a MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. The device also has an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel front camera with a set of AI features to improve quality.
