During 2024, Samsung has repeatedly reminded in its press releases of new products that access to some AI features will be paid in 2025. This was reported by SamMobile.

Since the beginning of the year, Samsung has made a big bet on Galaxy AI. For the company, AI has become one of the main advantages of Galaxy devices. It is also a potentially new revenue model. Throughout the year, Samsung has hinted that Galaxy AI might be paid for, at least partially, in the future.

Samsung’s press releases for Galaxy Tab S10 tablets and Galaxy S24 FE smartphone contain footnotes regarding the future of Galaxy AI. And to use the company’s own words: “The fee may apply to certain AI functions in late 2025.”

Samsung has never specified which Galaxy AI features could become paid. Earlier this year, Samsung Health CEO Hong Park said that the company is considering a subscription service for the Health app.

It is worth noting that Samsung uses the term AI rather than Galaxy AI. Most of the Galaxy AI tools are based on Google technologies, so it is possible that Google is the initiator of monetization of AI functions.

On the other hand, it is quite obvious that Samsung has long been looking for ways to generate recurring revenue from paid services and subscriptions. The company’s devices already have a paid Secure Wi-Fi service that provides secure access to web resources for $1.99 per month.
