Activision Blizzard will soon lay off about 400 more employees in addition to more than a thousand laid off earlier this year. The new cuts are also the result of a $68.7 billion deal with Microsoft. This was reported by the Daily News.

Last year, the company laid off 1,003 employees, and now it will additionally lay off about 393 people in its California offices. 140 employees will be laid off as early as October 11, and the rest are likely to be laid off by the end of the year.

The layoffs will take place at various positions and levels in Activision Blizzard’s Santa Monica and Irvine offices. Among those laid off will be accountants, software engineers, the director of human resources for the World of Warcraft video games, artists, the director of game technology designers, game producers, sound designers, as well as the game director and vice president.

Company representatives say that these layoffs are also part of previously announced plans.

Microsoft also announced the dismissal of another 650 people from its gaming division after the company laid off 1,900 employees, including Activision Blizzard, earlier this year.
