Soundiiz, an independent service from two French developers, makes the transition between music services less troublesome and allows you to transfer your playlists between Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, and 20 other streaming services. This was reported by TechCrunch.

Instead of working directly with streaming services, Soundiiz creates tools for transferring via API and acts as a translator between services. A simple user interface allows you to connect your streaming services and select the playlists you want to transfer, including those created by someone else.

The service was created in 2013 by two friends from France, Thomas Magnano and Benoît Erbreto, who loved listening to music while coding. They were working on creating an interface for music search using data from all over the Internet, but ended up creating Soundiiz.

“I had to manipulate APIs and test match between services. While doing this, I created playlists and moved them between services,” says Thomas Magnano. “I presented this feature to my colleague and we thought, ‘Oh it’s useful for me; maybe it is useful for someone else.’”

The two founders make a living from Soundiiz, but emphasize that they are “not looking to get rich.” Maniano says Soundiiz has never sought outside investment to keep prices low, and the founders retain control of their project.

Soundiiz has certain limitations for free users – the service transfers a maximum of 200 songs in a playlist, everything else is simply not transferred. In addition, playlists need to be transferred one by one, and the transfer process takes about a minute.

Soundiiz offers a premium plan for $4.50 per month to get around these restrictions.

The two founders are still the only employees of Soundiiz. Over the past 10 years, Soundiiz has streamed more than 220 million playlists. According to Magnano, they have never spent a single penny on marketing, but he adds that there was no need for it.
