Bentley itself calls the new Bentley Flying Spur Speed sedan no more or less than the first 4-door supercar! After all, despite the subtle exterior changes – a new grille, modified 22-inch wheels, an updated body color palette – the Bentley Flying Spur Speed now has a completely different engine under the hood. And it is this engine that makes the new Bentley Flying Spur Speed special: it is the Ultra Performance Hybrid power unit based on a 4-liter V8 instead of the previous W12 engine.
Despite the significant loss of cylinders and displacement, the new hybrid has significantly increased in power: the gasoline turbo engine alone develops 600 hp, with another 190 horses added by the electric motor, and the total is 782 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. These figures instantly make the new Bentley Flying Spur Speed the most powerful sedan in the company’s history. And one of the most dynamic: acceleration to “hundred” in 3.5 seconds; top speed – 285 km/h.
At the same time, the use of a battery with a capacity of almost 26 kWh allows the vehicle to travel up to 76 km on electric power, after which it takes less than three hours to charge the battery. Other interesting technical features include an all-wheel steering system, air suspension with two-chamber cylinders, and active roll suppression. And the appearance of unique Seat Auto Climate seats: they independently adjust the heating or cooling of different seating areas to ensure maximum climate comfort.
Sales of the new Bentley Flying Spur Speed will start by the end of this year. The approximate cost of the car is already known: from about 220 thousand pounds or almost $290 thousand – and this is only the beginning of the price…
