Samsung is cutting staff outside of South Korea. In some divisions, up to 30% of employees will be laid off. Layoffs will take place in the marketing and sales departments, as well as administrative staff. This was reported by Reuters.

The reductions will be carried out by the end of the year in the company’s offices in America, Europe, Asia and Africa, but it is not known in which countries the cuts will take place. Nevertheless, it is reported that about 15% of employees will be laid off from the marketing and sales division, and administrative staff will be cut by 30% in some cases.

Samsung has more than 267 thousand employees, of which 147 thousand work outside South Korea. Most of them work in the production and development departments, while 25,000 are employed in the sales and marketing department, and a little over 27,000 work in other departments. However, the exact number of employees to be laid off is unknown.

In a statement, Samsung said that the workforce reductions carried out at some overseas facilities are routine and aimed at improving efficiency. The company also noted that there are no specific targets or plans, and that these layoffs will not affect production staff.
