Over the three years of developing home internet together with Vodafone, Vega has managed to strengthen its position in the fixed-line market by significantly expanding its coverage, increasing the number of subscribers and enhancing the network’s energy resilience. The company said in a statement.

Following the merger with Vodafone Ukraine, Vega focused on developing its GPON network and modernizing its FTTB and FTTH networks. During this period, investments amounted to about UAH 670 million, including investments in the launch of network modernization of another new Vodafone asset, FRINET.

Between September 2021 and September 2024, the company expanded its GPON network coverage in Ukraine from 6 to 14 regions. At the end of 2023, in addition to Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Zaporizhzhia, new Internet zones appeared in Mykolaiv and Ivano-Frankivsk. In August this year, the construction of an energy-efficient network started in Poltava, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Lutsk, Rivne, and Ternopil.

According to the company, today Vodafone Gigabit Net, a power outage-resistant home Internet service, is available in more than 8,300 apartment buildings, with access for 1.2 million households. More than 1.1 million of the available homes were built after Vega became part of Vodafone Ukraine. Moreover, 75% of them were put into operation during the war.

The company has increased the number of GPON customers by 14 times, and now more than 100 thousand subscribers use this energy-efficient technology to access the Internet.

At the same time, the company’s data shows that the demand for the popular service has increased by about 7 times. Despite the shortage of staff and increased workload due to the need to ensure uninterrupted Internet access during outages, the operator’s team manages to connect more new subscribers every day.

Among other things, Vega provided GPON technical sites with modern alternative power supply systems, which allows the company to provide Internet services for more than 72 hours without interruption even during long power outages. This was crucial for maintaining stable communications during the war and a driver of growth in demand for the service.

At the same time, high access speeds of up to 1000 Mbps and network reliability also contribute to the growing popularity of GPON Internet services.

Vega actively supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the country’s critical infrastructure by providing communications. Over the past three years, the company has provided UAH 4.9 million worth of assistance to the country, including free Wi-Fi in more than 100 shelters and bomb shelters across the country.

In addition, over the past three years, Farlep-Invest and FRINET LLC (since the company became part of Vodafone) have paid more than UAH 500 million in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels.
