As previously reported, Sony officially unveiled the new PlayStation 5 Pro game console on September 10, 2024. It has a better processor and a higher price tag – $699.99 for the digital version with the option to buy a disk drive and a separate stand for vertical placement.

The PlayStation 5 Pro has an improved GPU, which the company claims has 67% more processing units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. According to the company, this provides up to 45% faster rendering of gameplay. And for faster download speeds, the console is equipped with Wi-Fi 7. There is also support for VRR and 8K resolution.

PS5 Pro also received an AI-based scaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. This technology uses machine learning to deliver sharper images.

In addition, the PlayStation 5 Pro has Game Boost technology, which can be used in more than 8,500 games from PlayStation 4 and 5 that are available for backward compatibility. This feature will stabilize or even improve the performance of supported PS4 and regular PS5 games. In particular, it can improve picture quality and, in some cases, resolution.
