Telegram has quietly removed from its FAQ page the statement that private chats are protected from moderation requests. The change came after Telegram founder Pavel Durov was arrested in France. This was reported by The Verge.

Durov made his first public statement after his arrest, promising to moderate content on the platform more. The messenger’s FAQ page has a new section titled “Telegram has illegal content. How to remove it?”.

Prior to that, the company noted that the content of dialogs and group chats remained private to the participants of the chats, and Telegram did not process any requests for the content of the chats.

Durov’s arrest came after French authorities made preliminary accusations that the messenger was used, among other things, to distribute materials depicting child sexual abuse and drug trafficking.
