YouTube is launching a new supervision feature that allows parents to link their accounts to their children’s accounts and view their activity. According to YouTube representatives, this will help parents be more aware of their children’s online activity. This was reported by The Verge.

Accounts will be able to be linked in the YouTube Family Center. This will allow parents to see general information such as subscriptions, comments, and the number of uploads made by their child. Notifications will also be sent to both linked accounts, for example, when a new video is uploaded to the platform or a live broadcast starts.

YouTube calls this the “first iteration,” which builds on the tools it already has to monitor children’s accounts, as well as develop new features that will provide deeper insight into a child’s activity.

YouTube also states that this feature allows for “mutual control,” meaning that the child can turn this feature off on their end at any time.
