Samsung celebrates the hundredth anniversary of innovations at IFA and presents an updated vision of the “AI for All” concept. The presentation demonstrated the company’s commitment to expanding the accessibility of artificial intelligence and presented two sections: AI for the World and AI for You.
Samsung’s “AI for Everyone” concept covers a wide range of AI products: mobile devices, home appliances, and home entertainment systems, with SmartThings at the center of it, offering easy control of Samsung AI products. By the end of 2024, Samsung expects to have 200 million Galaxy AI devices in the hands of users, and SmartThings will unite more than 500 million devices.
Despite the large number of users, only 15% of consumers said they have a full understanding of how artificial intelligence can be used in their daily lives, and 66% are looking for ways to find more time to learn about it.
The latest One UI 6.1.1 update, which will be released after IFA, will make artificial intelligence features from Galaxy Fold6 and Flip6, such as Live Translate and Circle To Search, available on the flagship Galaxy S24, Fold5 and Flip5 models.
In addition, One UI 6.1.1 will have brand new apps for creativity and communication, such as Sketch to Image, which will allow you to visualize ideas with image options based on a simple drawing. Another program will be Portrait Studio for creating avatars.
In addition to sharing its vision, Samsung also believes that its artificial intelligence should improve users’ daily lives and the devices they use. That is why the company presented new projectors The Premiere 9 and The Premiere 7 as part of the AI for Yourself section.
Both projectors feature state-of-the-art laser technology to deliver 4K images and superior sound on screens up to 130 inches. They also feature AI-powered technologies such as smart zoom, Vision Booster to adjust brightness and contrast, and more.
If consumers don’t want to use projectors, the company also announced that all new Samsung AI TVs, as well as certain 2023 models, will receive seven years of Tizen OS updates to give users the ability to consume content for even longer.
In the “AI for the World” section, the company states that artificial intelligence is a positive force that plays a crucial role in enabling everyone to take better care of the planet and each other. The company says that it further aims to achieve zero electricity consumption by 2050, and 93% of the DX division is already powered by renewable energy sources.
In terms of caring for the planet, the company says that its hybrid refrigerators were created with energy savings in mind. By combining two power sources, a compressor and Peltier cooling technology, the refrigerator analyzes when more energy is being used than usual. For example, if the refrigerator door is left open longer, Peltier technology works as an additional cooling source, increasing overall energy efficiency.
The aforementioned SmartThings system is also a key element of energy efficiency. The program’s AI Energy mode can reduce energy consumption for washing machines by up to 70%, and for refrigerators by 15%. In addition, the SmartThings Away mode allows you to turn off the lights or TV when no one is home. Sensors in various appliances detect when no one is in the room and then turn off the systems to save energy.
Bespoke AI appliances can also reduce your energy bills with their Optimal Scheduling and Optimal Charging features. These functions can delay the start time of the washing and charging cycle to reduce the load on the power grid and start at the most optimal hours.
